Paint sheen is how shiny or reflective a paint finish looks after it dries. It affects appearance, durability, and cleanability.
Lowest to Highest Shine
- Flat / Matte No shine. Best for ceilings and low-traffic walls. Hides imperfections well.
- Eggshell Soft, slight glow. Popular for living rooms and bedrooms.
- Satin Smooth, mild shine. Durable and easy to clean. Great for hallways, kitchens, kids’ rooms.
- Semi-Gloss Noticeably shiny. Moisture-resistant. Good for trim, doors, bathrooms, cabinets.
- Gloss / High-Gloss Very shiny and reflective. Toughest finish. Best for furniture, doors, accents.
